Selecting Elements

Top  Previous  Next

The easiest method to select an element on the page is clicking on it.

Alternatively, you can

Locate the element in Project Explorer
Right click its symbol
Choose "Select Element" from the Context Menu

Selecting Multiple Elements

To select multiple elements for various actions like dragging, copying or deleting, hold down the SHIFT key when an element is selected on the page and click the others you want to add to the group subsequently.

All selected elements are deselected when you click on another spot on the page.

Releasing Selected Elements

When you want to release some elements from the selected group just click them holding down the SHIFT key.

Quick Select Multiple Elements by scanning with the mouse

You can select multiple elements at once by scanning them with the mouse; i.e. by drawing a rectangle around the elements with the mouse.

If the elements to be selected are not directly on the page but in a container, hold down the CTRL key while scanning with the mouse.

Selecting Nested Elements

As the design gets condensed, elements become nested and it gets harder to click on the element we want. There are two methods for selecting an element within a nested group:

1.Selecting from the Explorer as shown above
2.Selecting by using the ESC key:
a.Select the most visible element from the nested group
b.Press the ESC key;  Each time you press the ESC key selection moves from current element to its parent.
c.You can monitor which element is selected on the Property Editor
d.Move the selection outwards with the ESC key, until the desired one is selected.
